There are some settings in XPM you need to get right. In this section we’ll be reviewing the essential settings to ensure your practice is set up to succeed.
To get started, go to ‘Business > Settings > Practice Settings’ in your XPM.
Allocation
These settings determine how and when we allocate staff to a job in XPM.
‘Staff Task Allocation’ should be set to ‘Inherit From Job’. This speeds up job allocation as we only need to invite a staff member into a job in order for them to work on any part of a job. By default they will be able to enter time against any available part of that job. We can still override this by explicitly inviting only specific team members into specific tasks, eg. ‘Annual Accounts – Review’. When we do this, only the staff member who is assigned to the task can put time to it.
‘Time Allocation’ should be set to ‘Staff’. This determines how we’re able to allocate times on specific tasks. This is the only option available when you are allocating staff to tasks using the ‘Staff Task Allocation’ and allows you to split a 20-hour budget on a specific task across the various people working on that task.
