There are some settings in XPM you need to get right. In this section we’ll be reviewing the essential settings to ensure your practice is set up to succeed.
To get started, go to ‘Business > Settings > Client Settings’ in your XPM.
Client settings
There is very little you need to add, edit or modify with your client settings as most of these are already set up correctly for you. There are some areas and definitions that it pays to be aware of, which are covered below.
Client types
Client types might win the award for the most useless field inside XPM. They are designed to be used to provide an additional layer of client reporting. Client types would be great to update with an industry type or something similar to allow us to manage correspondence or view profitability by industry, for example. However, client types are not able to be bulk updated so unless you’re willing to update manually and individually all of your clients’ client types, it is useless to you. Because they can’t be bulk updated, it also heavily depends on future team members remembering to populate this field when creating new clients. We’re much better off using a custom field to capture this information, which you can do by going to ‘Business > Settings > Custom Fields’.
